AttenDO ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the AttenDO attendance tracker application ("the Service") available at attendotracker.netlify.app.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

We use Google Analytics (measurement ID: G-KRH6H1K32Q) to collect anonymized usage data, including:

  • Pages visited and features used
  • Device type, browser type, and operating system
  • Approximate geographic location (country/region level)
  • Session duration and interaction patterns

This data is collected in aggregate form and cannot be used to identify individual users.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely for the following purposes:

  • Providing the Service: Tracking your attendance, calculating statistics, managing your timetable, and displaying your dashboard.
  • Authentication: Creating and managing your account via email/password or Google Sign-In.
  • Personalization: Displaying birthday greetings and customized dashboard content.
  • Service Improvement: Analyzing aggregate usage patterns to improve features and user experience.
  • Data Synchronization: Syncing your attendance data across devices when signed in.

We do not use your personal information for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

3.2 Security Measures

We implement the following security measures to protect your data:

  • All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
  • Firebase Authentication handles credential storage using industry-standard security practices.
  • Firestore Security Rules restrict data access to authenticated users viewing only their own data.
  • We do not store passwords in plaintext โ€” authentication is managed entirely by Firebase.

4. Data Retention

Your personal data is retained as follows:

  • Active accounts: Data is retained for as long as your account is active.
  • Semester archives: Past semester data is retained in your account until you manually delete it or request deletion.
  • Account deletion: Upon request, we will delete all your personal data from our systems within 30 days.
  • localStorage: Browser-cached data can be cleared by you at any time through your browser settings.

AttenDO uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

AttenDO uses the following client-side storage mechanisms:

  • localStorage: Used to cache your attendance data, timetable, and preferences for offline access and faster loading. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to third parties.
  • Google Analytics cookies: Used to distinguish users and track anonymous session data. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Firebase cookies: Used to maintain your authentication session.

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time (Dashboard, Settings).
  • Export: You can export all your data as a JSON file via Settings โ†’ Data Management โ†’ Export Backup.
  • Correction: You can update your personal information through the app's settings.
  • Deletion: You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.
  • Data Portability: The JSON export provides your data in a portable, machine-readable format.

8. Children's Privacy

AttenDO is designed for students and is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support.attendo@gmail.com, and we will promptly delete such information.

9. International Users (GDPR)

If you are accessing AttenDO from the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with data protection laws, you have additional rights:

  • Legal basis for processing: We process your data based on your consent (provided at account creation) and our legitimate interest in providing the Service.
  • Data transfers: Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States by Google LLC (Firebase, Analytics). These transfers are governed by Google's Standard Contractual Clauses.
  • Right to withdraw consent: You may withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account.
  • Right to lodge a complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify users by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
